HERITAGE DAYHTML Copyright © 2001-2002, awsltd.netThe Wyannie Malone Historical Museum Society Heritage Day for 2002 was held on 8th March in Hope Town, Elbow Cay. The day started at 10 am with a schoolchildren and piper parade from the school to Jarret Park where the flag was raised and the national anthem sung. Rev Carla Culmer gave the opening prayer.
Suzanne Bethel welcomed everybody to the event and introduced Dr Gail Saunders, Director, department of Archives. She was followed by Keith Tinker, Director, Department of Antiquities.
After songs from the schoolchildren the Wyannie Malone Museum was officially opened by Robert and Mrs Sweeting. Derek Gape outlined the plans for Phase 2 of the museum complex and school principal Candace Key conducted a tour of the museum.
Lunch and refreshments followed shortly after noon and there was a drawing of raffle tickets for a luncheon cruise on the William H Albury.
A Heritage buffet dinner was held at the Hope Town Harbour Lodge on 30th March to complete the 2002 celebrations.
