Wynsome FergusonDon Cornish, Manager of the Abaco Office, was guest speaker at the Abaco Chamber of Commerce meeting held at Sapodilly's Restaurant, Marsh Harbour, on 14th March. Mr Cornish spoke on Goombay and its cultural importance plus the role the Abaco Tourist Office plays in tourism promotional activities. Chamber President Mike Malone presented him with a plaque in recognition of his special contribution to the Abaco Chamber of Commerce. Some 40 persons attended this meeting, including Kendy Anderson of the Abaco Tourist Office.
AOPA Editorial visited Abaco 5th-6th April. While on Abaco they visited Marsh Harbour, Treasure Cay and Green Turtle Cay. While on Green Turtle Cay the group was hosted to a small cocktail reception. Earl Miller of the Bahamas Out Island Promotion Board along with Greg Rolle of Bahamas Tourist Office Miami accompanied the group to Abaco. Don Cornish of the Abaco Tourist Office met and assisted the group during their visit to Abaco.
The Royal Marsh Harbour Yacht Club held its monthly meeting/cocktail reception on Tuesday 9th April at the Bistro Restaurant. There were some 100 plus members who attended this event and participated in the club's scavenger hunt and were awarded various prizes. Don Cornish represented the Abaco Tourist Office at this meeting.
Wynsome Ferguson of the Abaco Tourist Office attended the Linkages between Tourism and Agriculture workshop 10th-12th April at Super Club Breezes in Nassau. Vincent Pinder and Carol Jean Lowe of Abaco Big Bird and Francis Swain of Bahamas Neem also attended this event.
Airport entertainment began at Marsh Harbour International Airport on 12th April. The many visitors who arrived in
Friends of the Environment hosted a workshop on 13th April at the Abaco Beach Resort. Lori Kenyon, president, and Kitty Clarke, facilitator, welcomed those attending. The workshop was divided into seven groups depending on the interest of the attendees and from these groups committees were formed.
