HELP FOR HORSES
Abaco's unique wild horses were completely unaware of it, of course, but a great deal
was done for them on the night of 10th April when a concert sponsored by the Abaco
Tourist Office and Heart of Gold Productions proved to be a great success. The donations received that evening far exceeded expectations.
Abaco's wild horse herd is dwindling and needs such support. Milanne Rehor and the
Wild Horse Fund are actively working to protect the north Abaco herd from extinction.
On stage at the Great Abaco Beach Pavilion were Downtown Larry Brown, Bob Swickel
and Brent Moyer who provided country and blues music and were joined by Stone McEwan.
Stone has only been on Abaco for two years but has made a remarkable impact on the
local music scene.
A similar concert series on a larger scale is planned for mid-October. The concerts
will be taken to the Cays as well as the mainland and extend for a period of ten
days. Sherry Parker of the Abaco Tourist Office hopes that these concerts will not
only raise much needed funds for Abaco's wild horses but bring visitors and international
attention to Abaco.
