HUEL MOSS JR TESTIMONIAL BANQUET
The Abaco District Teacher of the Year, Huel Moss Jr of Abaco Central High School,
was fêted at a testimonial banquet held at the Spinnaker Restaurant, Treasure Cay,
on 16th April. The guest speaker was Roderick Bowe, an educator well known to central
Abaco in particular, and special guests of honour were the parents of the honoree, Mr
Huel Moss Sr, a veteran teacher, and his lovely wife. "I had five children," Mr Moss
told the Abaco Journal, "and Huel was the only one I named after me - and he was
the only one to become a teacher."
Master of ceremonies for the evening was Kenneth Romer of S C Bootle Secondary School,
who was the reigning National Teacher of the Year for 1998. When the banquet was
over, Huel Moss Jr prepared to go to Nassau where he would interact with other Teachers
of the Year from Nassau districts and other islands. If all works out well, Mr Moss
will bring a remarkable second National Teacher of the Year title back to Abaco.
