TEE-OFF

1999 has been a very succesful time for the Ladies Golf section. We
have had beautiful weather the entire season - nothing cancelled due to
rain as in previous years - and most weeks we have had 25 to 30 ladies
playing on Wednesday morning. The excellent state of the course this
year has been a great inducement to play and we are all very
appreciative of the tremendous amount of time and work which has gone
into improving the greens and fairways.

As usual, we had the regular monthly tournaments and on our closing
day prizes were awarded as follows : January - 2 Day Medal: A -
Naomi Gettinger, B - Marge Chance, C - Kay Kaplin. February - Ringer
Tournament: A- Fran Ghingher, B - Marvel Moore, C - Margot
Prior.

Our Club Championship was held during the latter part of March and
we later met in the Spinnaker as for our final lunch. We had an
excellent meal greatly enjoyed by all, with the choice of chicken or
lobster salad followed by our favourite macaroons. We thank the staff
for the care and good service they always provide for our luncheons
during the season.

This year the main prizes were a selection of beautifully embroidered
sweaters and vests done by Patti Kay. The following were
the lucky winners:
        Club Champion - Medal Play:
        A - Margaret Lott, runner-up - Peggy Horn
        B - Grace Chambers, runner-up - Sally Quateraro
        C - Salli Ann Schiffmacher, runner-up - Sue Werneke

In addition the following players were awarded prizes:
Most Improve Golfer - Margot Prior, whose handicap went from 36 to 32
Ringer Board - A - Margaret Lott, 66 B - Sally Quarteraro, 79
Birdie Tree - Margaret Lott - 6
Margaret Lott has had a lot of success this year but her crowning
achievement was her hole in one on # 8 at the end of January.

We look forward to another year as happy as this one and hope that
many newcomers will join our friendly group on a Wednesday morning.
