NEW MAIL BOAT

North Abaco has a state of the art new $2.5 million mail boat which is delivering freight every Wednesday to Marsh Harbour, Great Guana Cay and Green Turtle Cay from Nassau. The 160 feet long, 36 feet wide MV Legacy can carry 16 full size containers and 100 pallets in the cargo hold. In addition, there are cabins to sleep 48 passengers.

Capt Ernest Dean Jr and Capt Clifford Carroll will be in charge of the vessel which was named for Capt Dean’s father, Capt Ernest Dean Sr of Sandy Point. The name celebrates the long history of the Dean family in the mail boat service.
