CABLE BAHAMAS REACHES ABACO
Many residents in the Marsh Harbour area have been tied into Cable Bahamas during August following months of laying the groundwork. Many Abaconians had satellite feed systems but were still glad to add Cable Bahamas to their menus.
Mrs Sylvia Bethel and Rev Carlton Dorsette have acted as agents for the company and have facilitated the speedy installation of the cable system. Local residents have been appreciative of the very friendly and professional service they have received from Cable Bahamas personnel. Visits back to tune in televisions to receive all the channels have been done cheerfully at no cost.
Not all the channels received by Nassau are available to Abaco at the present time. Nobody from Cable Bahamas was willing to put a time frame on complete service to the whole island but it is obvious the crew working on Abaco is making fast progress. The line to Coopers Town from Marsh Harbour was laid long before any tie-ins were made so the residents of the north may be closer to reception than they realise. As with many promised projects, once they become reality the public is somewhat surprised. Well done, everybody connected with Cable Bahamas. You've done an outstanding job!
Cable Bahamas at the moment offers 32 channels which include the networks, ESPN and ESPN 2, CNN, the Superstations, Discovery Channel, the Weather Channel, Canadian and BBC news, music for teenagers, cartoons for kids and a host of other special interest channels. One of the missing channels is ZNS and Abaconians really want to be able to keep up with the happenings in Nassau. Treasure Cay has had cable television for many years but the number of channels available from Cable Bahamas on a superior delivery system are substantial now, with many more channels to come in the future.
One of the pleasures of Treasure Cay is the absence of 12 foot dinosaur dishes in every yard. Hopefully, the whole of Abaco will be dinosaur free in the near future.
