PASSINGS...CHARLES H CONGER
Charles H Conger, 82, passed away at his home in Fort Myers, Florida on 21st August with his family at his side.
Born in Peninsula, Ohio, where he lived for 62 years, he was a 1940 graduate of Kent State University and had a 44 year career in the motor freight industry. He was very active in the Peninsula community. After retirement in 1979, Charles and his wife Velma moved to Teasure Cay for a 14 year vacation. He was past president of the Treasure Cay Rotary Club and past commodore of the Sand Bank Yacht Club. He and Velma returned to Fort Myers in 1993 because of his health.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Velma, of Fort Myers; son Don of Lutz, Florida; daughters and sons-in-law Jane and John Gardner of Copley, Ohio, and Janet and Robert Mayer of Peninsula, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Maureen Conger, Heather and Eric Gardner, Stacey Hakes and Todd Mayer. He was preceded in death by sister Elizabeth Bender and brothers Robert, Arthur, George and Buz Conger.
