PILOT CLUB OF ABACO
Anna Côté
The Pilot Club of
Abaco held its first share meeting under the new administration at the home of
Treasurer Joyce Coleby in Pelican Shores on the evening of 25th July. Share
meetings are the Pilots' way of inviting non-members to experience a regular
business meeting of the Club and to have fellowship with members through
socialising and refreshments afterwards. Many current members brought guests
from the community, including a number of male professionals.
Pilot
President Sharon Dorsette shared her experiences at the recent Pilot
International Annual Convention, held this year in Boston MA. She was pleased to
have been accompanied by Immediate Past President Veronica Edwards-Nairn,
President Elect Neulessa Lundy and four members of the Anchor Club of Abaco. The
Club received honourable mention for having Veronica Edwards-Nairn appointed as
District Youth Coordinator for 2000-2001 and having Neulessa Lundy Major voted
as First Runner Up Youth Advisor for the Pilot International Year. The Club,
which is only two years old, feels especially proud of these
achievements.
Other officers assigned non-executive duties in the Club
for the new year are Louise Rose (Chaplain), Zalli Moon Chu (Historian),
Anna-Maria Côté (Public Relations Officer) and Colin Scavella (Youth
Coordinator). The duties of Sergeant at Arms will be assigned as
necessary.
The Pilot Club of Abaco salutes Wendy Gwynn as Pilot of the
Year, and the runners up Adrienne Spicer and Louise Rose. Sharon Dorsette
received honours for perfect attendance.
A fish fry fund-raiser was held
on August Monday. The proceeds from this effort will assist vision-impaired
students at local schools with eye examinations and
spectacles.
