ATTEMPTED ROBBERY

Two men attempted to rob the BaTelCo office at Fox Town on the afternoon of 1st August. While pretending to purchase a phone card, one of the men pulled a gun and demanded money. The office manager grabbed her car keys and ran, setting off her vehicle’s alarm. The two men entered a white Dodge Ram truck and sped off.

Later that evening two men from Murphy Town, aged 28 and 29, were arrested in Port Lucaya, Grand Bahama, while boarding a Discovery cruise ship en route to Florida. They were detained overnight and released the next morning having established their innocence. One of the men had been to the Fox Town BaTelCo office on the day of the robbery.

The police investigation is ongoing.
