BEC PLANS FOR ABACO
During a meeting held at Abaco Central Secondary School on 20th August,
Bahamas Electricity Corporation General Manager Freeman Duncanson outlined
the Corporation's immediate plans for Abaco.
Abaco was the fastest growing community in The Bahamas in terms of power
needs, Mr Duncanson noted. BEC was determined to keep up with Abaco's needs.
By the end of this year BEC would be bringing electricity to Treasure Cay
and Man O' War Cay. An additional 5 megawatts of power will be added to
the grid and BEC would be providing electricity to every settlement on
Abaco and its cays from Crown Haven to Crossing Rocks from its Marsh Harbour
power station.
Sandy Point would, for the time being, remain with its present BEC station.
