ABACO SCOUTS NEWS
by Huel Moss
For the second straight year, 35 scouts from the Florida Sea base and Abaco took part
in a joint beach clean-up effort at the Crossing Beach in Marsh Harbour. Numerous
bags of broken bottles, cans, cigarette butts, plastic containers and such were collected.
The scouts then enjoyed several competitive games of beach volleyball before dining
on grilled hot dogs and hamburgers followed by a dessert of mangoes.
Next year the group hopes to focus their attention on one of the neighbouring cays
or one of the settlements on the mainland.
In other scout news: Mimi Rehor of the Abaco Wild Horses Foundation donated a Yashica
135mm camera with accessories and film to the scout district. The scouts hope to
be working with Ms Rehor to help secure a preserve for the wild horses of Abaco.
