ROYAL PALM FRONDS
by Betsy Bracey

Lobster season began with fair skies and engine 'revvings' in the Marina
at 8 am. Not as noisy as the Indianapolis 500 start up but certainly
reminiscent. Off to the reefs! was the call of the day but many returned
disappointed. Lobster populations appeared to be diminished from the years
many of us remember when filling the pot for dinner was easy. It's sad and
hopefully those who still go lobstering will do it gently.

We've had fair weather and calm seas for the month until about four in the
afternoons when thunderheads built and multiple lightning storms skittered
across the horizon causing boaters to flee for safe harbour. The downpours
were brief, however, and good for the grass and foliage which looked freshly
bathed and shiny in the sunshine that invariably followed along with some
truly magnificent rainbows. Not a bad schedule, actually. Fishermen had
time to catch, cookouts could be held on schedule and evening strolls were
always possible. You should have been here! Janneys, Marco Perez,
Latours, Drapers, Hills, Cairns, Carrells, Augustino and Flavia Campi,
Petersons, Hodges, Tom Seward and McAlisters were, along with Daniel Kaplan
and his family celebrating a 12th wedding anniversary. September, anyone?
